Weekly Update

Spring 2, Week 5

As we wrap up a busy week, we have officially reached the end of the spring term! Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to:

Maths:
This week, we began our new unit on fractions. The children have been learning how to partition mixed numbers, as well as compare and order them.

English:
In English, we started exploring non-chronological reports. The children kicked off the week by writing their own reports about themselves. They have also identified key features of this genre, examined them in different texts, and compared two non-chronological reports.

Reading:
During guided reading, we continued developing our retrieval and inference skills. Our comprehension focus was on a fiction text called Living in the Workhouse.

Science:
This week, we investigated the digestive system, exploring the roles of each organ. The highlight was an exciting experiment that had the children absolutely amazed!

PE:
In yoga, the children worked on improving their flexibility and strength through a positive summer flow sequence.

Geography:
We examined Asia’s impact on global climate. Using atlases, the children identified the most polluted countries and investigated why air pollution levels in some parts of Asia are higher than in the UK.

PSHE:
Our Jigsaw lesson this week focused on the effects of smoking and vaping on our health.

DT:
The children have started creating their night lights, which involved lots of cutting and painting. These will be completed after the holidays!

Special Mentions:
A huge congratulations to Tadisa and Hunter (4H), and Freya and Archie (4P) for their special mentions this week – well done! 🎉

We hope you have a fantastic break over the holidays. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to welcoming you back in two weeks!
