Spring 2 Week 2
Weekly Update – Spring 2, Week 2
We’ve had an action-packed week in Year 4 with lots of new learning taking place. Have a look at the weekly breakdown below:
World Book Day was a great success! There were some brilliant outfits on display and the children created some terrific comic strips with their own original stories in the afternoon.
Maths:
This week, we have continued with our learning on perimeter looking at both rectangles and rectilinear shapes.
English:
In English, we have looked in detail at how to form rhetorical questions and we have used them effectively in the first draft of our persuasive letters.
Reading:
During guided reading, we are nearing the end of Street Child and worked on our retrieval and inference skills. We also practised our comprehension skills with a text based on British tennis player, Emma Raducanu.
Science:
We sorted animals into different categories (carnivore, herbivore, omnivore) based on their teeth.
PE:
In basketball, we developed our dribbling skills further and in our first yoga lesson, we explored how to move fluidly between poses.
Geography:
We looked in further detail at our focus country, China, looking at the countries that border China and some key facts.
DT:
We investigated how circuits can be connected using switches, designing our own switch as the next stage of our project.
Special Mentions:
Congratulations to Allan and Kurtis (4H), along with Theo and Lorissa (4P), for their special mentions this week – well done!
A big well done to Roman and Jake T (4H), along with Aleyah A and Summer (4P) who were chosen as ‘Always’ children this time round – congratulations to you!
