Spring 2 Week 1
Weekly Update – Year 4
We’re now halfway through the school year, and what a fantastic start to Spring 2 it has been! Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to this week:
Maths:
This week, the children completed an arithmetic test, and it’s wonderful to see the progress they’ve made since the start of the school year!
English:
In English, we have finished planning our persuasive letters, aiming to improve the living conditions of the poor during the Victorian era. Next week, the children will begin writing their letters!
Reading:
During guided reading, the children tackled a variety of comprehension questions based on the text Murder at the Manor.
Science:
We kicked off our new science unit, Animals Including Humans, with a focus on teeth. The children explored the names of different teeth and their functions.
PE:
In basketball, we started by learning the basic rules before moving on to dribbling skills.
Geography:
Our new geography topic is all about Asia. To begin, the children explored the concept of human geography and discussed how a growing population impacts climate change.
Music:
We have started a new unit based around the song Mamma Mia. The children critiqued the song before learning and performing it.
Computing:
Continuing our work with Turtle Academy, the children developed their coding skills by writing repeated code and programming different shapes.
Special Mentions:
Congratulations to Jake T and Sophie L (4H), alongside Charlotte F and Yazan A (4P), for their special mentions this week – well done!
Have a lovely weekend and thank you for your continued support.
Mr Piper & Mr Hampton.
