Weekly Update

Spring 1 Week 4
Weekly Update
As January comes to a close, the children have been working really hard across the curriculum and we’re really pleased with the progress being made. Here’s a look at what we have been learning about this week.
Maths:
This week, we have continued our work on multiplication and division by both multiplying and dividing 2-digit by 1-digit numbers.
English:
In English, we have drafted and edited all the sections of our explanation text about coastal erosion. The published pieces demonstrate how hard the children have worked on this.
Reading:
Street Child is proving a huge hit and the children are really engaged with finding out all about Jim and what will happen to him. We have used our reading skills to answer a variety of question styles this week.
Science:
In our Electricity unit, we investigated how to make a circuit by making buzzers sound and lighting bulbs.
PE:
In gymnastics, we worked on our balances with a starting point, balance and finishing point, being as creative as possible to move over apparatus.
History:
In our next lesson studying the Victorian Era, we looked at a variety of different inventions and decided which one(s) had the greatest impact on Britain today.
Spanish:
We learned how to say the names of different family members.
Computing:
In computing, we continued to work with Turtle Academy to plan code for designing an initial.
Art:
As part of our project on Lowry, we looked at perspective and where the vanishing point is on certain pieces of artwork.
Special Mentions:
Congratulations to Tadisa and Willow (4H), alongside Pippa and Miller (4P), for their special mentions this week – well done!
Thank you for your continued support.
