9th March 2023 - The Day the Snow Came
Do you remember that day when the snow came when you were at school?
It was the 9th of March 2023 and the meteorologists had predicted snow to hit huge swathes of the country. We've all heard it before but this time it came true. Some schools and colleges shut at the start of the day, others had early closures but Rosehill had other ideas.
Mr Hayes, a smile on his face in the morning decided that the children should be allowed the opportunity to see the snow during morning break. Fun was had and the children returned to the classrooms to continue their learning prior to lunch.
Lunch arrived and the dinner staff announced to the children that they would be staying inside over the lunchtime break which came as no great surprise but was treated with groans of disappointment from the children.
Mr Hayes though was busy plotting a cunning plan. An assembly was announced and the children gathered as the headteacher laid out his idea. The children were to be given the opportunity to play in the snow with their friends - only if they wanted to - and they could return inside at any point.
Not long after, the school doors opened and over 200 children and most of the staff took to the fields to take part in either the biggest snowball fight seen in recent history or the construction of a flock of snowmen ranging in shapes and sizes.
The laughter from that afternoon and the fun that was had by all will live long in the memory thanks to one slightly crazy headteacher, his equally crazy staff and over 200 grateful children.
