Shooting for the Stars
What a week year 4 have had!
Week 4 of the new school year saw some excellent work produced by the children in both maths and English.
In maths, the children have continued to develop their understanding of place value with adding or subtracting 1, 10, 100 or 1000 to a number becoming more accurate. The children sat their first arithmetic paper of the year, giving them a baseline to build on. As well as this, they tried their hand at the soundcheck function on TT rockstars, giving them another baseline to improve on throughout year 4.
In English, the children have produced some excellent writing as they complete their first assessed piece of the year, writing a diary entry as a child in the Indus Valley - a great link to our current history topic.
In P.E., the range of passes and controlled pivoting movements were refined before we learnt how to shoot a netball with increasing accuracy.
At the same time as all these exciting things were taking place, parents and carers were sending money in following our successful 100 mile sponsored walk. We managed to pass the £1000 mark following the generosity of our wonderful school community which will be used to reduce the cost of the upcoming residential visit to Castleton - a huge thank you from us for your support in this.
